Viewing Edwin D. Buffington (1858-1931).

Edwin D. Buffington (1858-1931).

Already a member of the Pennsylvania bar, Edwin D. Buffington and his wife moved to Stillwater, Minnesota, in 1880. After serving as counsel for a manufacturing company, he opened his own shop. In total he was a lawyer in Stillwater for a half century. He was city attorney for twenty years before his death on January 30, 1931, at age seventy-two. The following month the county bar association presented a memorial to him in district court. He was recalled:

"The members of this association have lost a man who added prestige to this Bar not only as a lawyer but as a gentleman. He was an adversary who fought hard but when the controversy was over, he was our friend and we loved him. In victory he was magnanimous and charitable; in defeat he was gracious and held no grudge."
