Viewing Roy Jennings Brumfield (1896-1958).

Roy Jennings Brumfield (1896-1958).

Roy J. Brumfield was a casualty underwriter for many years before his interest in the law was rekindled. He graduated from the Minnesota College of Law in 1931, was admitted to the bar and became an associate of Sweet, Johnson and Sands in Minneapolis. He was made partner of the firm in 1934, and remained with it until 1956 when he was appointed an Assistant County Attorney. He died on March 24, 1958, at age sixty-one. In memorial proceedings for the Hennepin County Bar Association in May 1958, Thomas E. Sands, his former partner, recalled:

"Few men are capable of greater devotion to the practice of law as a profession than was Roy Brumfield. By nature he enjoyed and respected people. Generous of his time, his talents and possessions, there was ever present within him the desire to help. Although a respected and at times a rugged adversary in the courtroom, his code of fairness, propriety and ethics was never compromised."
