Hendricks (1865-1938).John Albert Hendricks graduated the University of Minnesota College of law in 1893, was admitted to the bar, and set up shop in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. In early 1895 he moved to Fosston, a small town in Polk County in northwestern Minnesota. There he carried on a general practice that included collections, real estate and probate work. He prevailed in two cases before the Minnesota Supreme Court: Stephenson v. Lohn, 115 Minn. 166 (1911), and Torgerson v. Crookston Lumber Company, 123 Minn. 476 (1913). Besides practicing law, he was village attorney and a member of the school board. In 1916 he moved to Crookston, the county seat. Five years later he was easily elected judge of the municipal Court. He did not seek reelection after the expiration of his two year term. In 1931 he retired because of failing health, and moved to Morris, Minnesota, to be near his daughter. There he died on July 11, 1938, aged seventy-two. |
