Scarlett, "Memoir of Lord Abinger" (1877).IN 1877 Peter Campbell Scarlett (1804-1881), an English diplomat, published a memoir of his father, "A Memoir of the Right Honourable James, First Lord Abinger, Chief Baron of Her Majesty's Court of Exchequer." Abinger (1769-1844) was called to the bar in 1791, where he achieved success. His son writes: "I have it on Lord Chelmsford's authority that the Duke of Wellington said of my father: 'When Scarlett is addressing the jury there are thirteen jurymen.'"
