Samuel Romilly, "Memoirs of the Life of Sir Samuel Romilly" Volume 1 (1796).

Sir Samuel Romilly (1757-1818) was a British lawyer, politician, staunch opponent of slavery, and law reformer. For many years he worked tirelessly to reform the so-called "Bloody Code of Justice" under which many petty offenses were capital crimes.

In 1841 his sons published his memoirs titled "Memoirs of the Life of Sir. Samuel Romilly, Written by Himself, With a Selection from his Correspondence." Volume 1 covers 1757-1791. It is dated 1796.
