He began employment in 1890, and served as clerk and Assistant U. S. Attorney from 1894 to 1920, when he entered private practice. But not for long. Upon the retirement of Charles L. Spencer, Judge Page Morris appointed Dickey Clerk of Court, a position he held until his death on August 10, 1933.
