Viewing John E. Green (1865-1952).John E. Green (1865-1952).Upon graduating the University of Minnesota College of Law in 1896, John Edward Green returned to Carleton, where he had taught and been the superintendent of schools. He lived and practiced law in Carleton for the next half century, raised his family, participated in community affairs, belonged to civic and social organizations and was active in his church. He died on September 15, 1952, at age eighty-six. His obituary in the local newspaper closed with advice to the next generation: "Carleton has lost a loyal friend and a wise counselor. God grant that younger hands and hearts may carry on faithfully the many tasks that John E. Green so often battled for in the growth and improvement of his loved ones and community." |
