Viewing Sarah Roslyn Gensler Schwartz (1901-1942).

Sarah Roslyn Gensler Schwartz (1901-1942).

In 1903, two-year old Sarah Gensler emigrated from Austria with her parents to Minneapolis, where she was educated in the public schools. Ambitious, she attended the Minnesota College of Law, graduated at the top of her class in 1922, and was admitted to the bar on September 5, 1922. After her marriage to Julius Schwartz, she continued to practice in state and federal courts. She died on July 6, 1942, at age forty-one. In a memorial on behalf of the Hennepin County Bar Association the following year, Elwood Fitchette noted that she was respected by her peers, loyal to her clients, and "generous in the extreme" to those in need.
