Viewing Robert S. Taylor (1868 : 1924).

Robert S. Taylor (1868 : 1924).

Within the professions of shorthand court reporting and law in the early 1900s, Robert S. Taylor was famous for his phenomenal speed, accuracy and stamina. His virtuoso performance in reporting testimony in the Standard Oil antitrust case in 1907-1908 was recalled with awe by other reporters years later. He also served as a court-appointed Special Examiner in the Paper Trust and the International Harvester Company antitrust prosecutions.

He was District Court Judge William Cant's court reporter in Duluth from 1908 to 1917, when he moved to Minneapolis to report cases in the Hennepin County District Court. He later moved to California, where he died on March 9, 1924, at age fifty-six. The Duluth Herald carried his obituary several days later.
