Judge Charles B. Elliott: "The Supreme Court of Minnesota." (1892).

The first history of the Minnesota Supreme Court was written by thirty-one year old Charles B. Elliott, a judge on the Minneapolis Municipal Court. It was published in two installments in "The Green Bag," a popular journal for the legal profession in the 1890s. The first, covering the territorial period, 1849 to 1858, appeared in the March 1892 issue, and the second, covering the court from statehood in 1858 to 1892, appeared in the April issue. Elliott's history is composed of biographical sketches of the justices, many accompanied by a portrait or photograph.
