Charles Burke Elliott resigned from the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1909 to accept a presidential appointment to be Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court. He later served as Secretary of Commerce and Police for the Philippine Commission. He returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1913 and resumed the practice of law. He also wrote a two volume study of developments in the Philippines since their occupation or "conquest" by the United States. The first volume, "The Philippines to the End of the Military Régime: America Overseas," was published in 1916 and is posted here.
