In 1913, Howard S. Abbott's 1277 page Treatise on the Law of Public Corporations was published by Callaghan and Company of Chicago. It is posted here.
It was reviewed in 6 The Lawyer & Banker and Southern Bench and Bar Review 188 (June 1913):
"At last we have a modern and up-to-date work on public securities which clearly presents the substantiative law, and also shows how a public corporation may issue and control its securities, with the limitations placed thereon. The author is a master in chancery in Minnesota well known as the parent of Abbott's Municipal Corporation. An examination of the work shows that it will be particularly valuable to the legal departments of states, cities and corporation counsel; also to attorneys for banks, brokers and investment companies. No courts should pass on the constitutionality of acts providing for bond issues without an examination of the law here recited."
