Viewing Albert Preston Reed (1893-1955).

Albert Preston Reed (1893-1955).

Albert Preston Reed was born on September 22, 1883, in Minneapolis. He was admitted to the Minnesota bar in 1906, and practiced with his father, Louis Albert Reed, a prominent Minneapolis lawyer who had served one term as Hennepin County Attorney. After spending several years in Oregon, he returned to Minnesota, practiced law and was active in many social and professional organizations. He was the city attorney for Bloomington and served on its planning and charter commissions. He died on December 12, 1955, at age seventy-two. The next year, he was recalled in a memorial for the Hennepin County Bar Association by a friend, Daniel F. Foley:

"His principal characteristics were his capacity for fast, close and abiding friendships, a thorough knowledge of the law, integrity of the highest character, and an ability for sound planning and straight forwardness. With these ample qualities he made a host of friends. His name was synonymous for integrity of purpose and entire honesty with friends and opponents alike.

"Wherever he went, whatever his engagements, he made friends who respected him for what he was. They were not mere acquaintances. They were loyal friends who respected his character, his influence and the general warmth of his personality."
