A graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, Robert M. Works practiced law in Minnesota from his admission to the bar in 1907 to his death at age forty-nine on March 4, 1933. In memorial proceedings for the Ramsey County Bar Association he was recalled:
"He possessed intellectual gifts of a high order ?? absolute integrity of purpose and a sound judgment, and these, united with adequate training, eminently qualified him to serve his profession well. He possessed a strong sense of duty and of the absolute necessity of the performance of every obligation assumed. His logically balanced mind was happily joined to an even temperament and a genial disposition."
