Viewing Norman Fetter: "Handbook of Equity Jurisprudence" (1895).

Norman Fetter: "Handbook of Equity Jurisprudence" (1895).

Norman Fetter, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, was admitted to the Minnesota bar in 1889. He set up shop in Minneapolis, but soon moved to St. Paul where he continued private practice and also began researching and writing law books for West Publishing Company.

In 1895, West published Fetter's first two books: a treatise in its hornbook series, "Handbook of Equity Jurisprudence," which is posted here, and a textbook, "Illustrative Cases upon Equity Jurisprudence." Several years later, it published his massive "A Treatise on the Law of Carriers of Passengers." Reviews of these books in several law reviews are posted in the "Treatises/textbooks" category in the archives of the MLHP.

Norman Fetter died on March 22, 1943, at age seventy-eight. For his bar memorial on April 24, 1943, see "Ramsey County Bar Memorials - 1943" 16-18 (MLHP, 2016).
