On July 14, 1909, Judge Daniel Fish addressed the annual convention of the Minnesota State Bar Association on the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858. The title of his speech was the "Legal Phases of the Lincoln and Douglas Debates." It is posted here.

Fish (1848-1924) was a Civil War veteran who collected books and pamphlets relating to his late Commander in Chief. He published several bibliographies of books and pamphlets on Lincolniana.

He was, besides, a prominent Minneapolis lawyer who was Probate Judge of Wright County, 1875-1876, Minneapolis City Attorney, 1911-1914, and Judge of Hennepin County District Court, 1914-1921.
