Laybourn (1851-1919).A member of the Iowa bar, Charles Guy Laybourn arrived in Minneapolis in 1885 and resumed practice, concentrating on commercial cases. He became the attorney for several fraternal benefit associations and developed a subspecialty in life insurance claims. He also became active in Republican politics. He ran for judge of the Hennepin County District Court in 1900, 1904, 1906 and 1914 and lost each time. He died on October 18, 1919, at age 68. In a memorial at the annual convention of the Minnesota State Bar Association in August 1920, he was recalled:
